New Ford Escape

The new Ford Escape delivers excellent versatility in a convenient package

For two decades, ever since it helped popularize the segment back in 2001, the Ford Escape has been the epitome of a well-rounded compact crossover. It offers spacious accommodations, versatile utility, and a conveniently maneuverable physical footprint, making it an ideal choice for commuters and small families alike. And with multiple trims, engines, and options to choose from, there's an Escape for almost every need, taste, lifestyle, and budget.

Performance

More than just a versatile crossover, the new Ford Escape is all about having an option, and that goes for its internal motivation too. Under the hood, Most Escapes are powered by a 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine (181 horsepower, 190 pound-feet of torque) with cylinder-deactivation for improved efficiency and an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The Escape also offers a boost in performance and fuel economy via a 200-horsepower 2.5-liter Atkinson-Cycle hybrid engine, standard on Titanium and available for SE and SEL trim levels. Matched with an electrically variable-speed automatic transmission, it achieves an impressive 41 mg combined.

And if you're seeking a little more excitement for your Denver City TX commute, SEL and Titanium trim levels can equip the available turbocharged 2.0-liter power plant that makes a cool 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. For enhanced handling and traction in inclement conditions, all-wheel-drive comes standard on Titanium and is available on all supporting tiers.

Finally, the Ford Escape is also available as an ultra-efficient plug-in hybrid, which comes with its own SE, SEL, and Titanium trim levels. All Escape PHEV's feature a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid system with a rechargeable battery, which, according to fueleconomy.gov, achieves an EPA-estimated 41 mpg combined with only gas and a truly remarkable gas-electric 102 MPGe. Even more impressive, the Ford Escape PHEV can travel an estimated 37 miles emissions-free. Charging the battery takes 10-11 hours with a standard 110-volt power source or just 3.3 with a Level 2 fast charger.

Accommodations and Versatility

Despite its compact designation, the Ford Escape provides roomy accommodations for five, with attractive style details, an intuitive control layout, and quality materials. Even tall riders will have plenty of room in all outboard positions. The sliding 60/40-split second row adds an extra degree of versatility, allowing you to quickly adjust its position to favor extra cargo space or second-row legroom. With the seatbacks up, you'll have access to 33.5 or 37.5 cubic feet of cargo space. And with the second-row folded, capacity expands to 65.4 cubic feet.

Technology

Standard on the SE trim and above, Ford's SYNC 3 infotainment system makes it easy to stay in-touch and entertained without distraction. With Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Andrews TX drivers can intuitively integrate their smartphone with an 8-inch touchscreen for intuitive access to features like hands-free calls and texts, Google and Apple maps, streaming and stored music, and lots more.

To alleviate the stress and fatigue of a tedious commute or long road trip, the Escape offers available Adaptive Cruise Control. Leverage camera and radar technologies, this advanced driver aid automatically maintains a safe distance from a leading vehicle up to your preset speed, limiting the need to continually switch between the brake and accelerator pedals.

Safety

Whether it's a quick trip to the store, the morning commute, or an extended road trip, when it comes to automotive safety, nothing beats staying attentive. Still, it's nice to have a little assistance. That's why the Ford Escape comes standard with the Co-Pilot360™ suite of advanced driver assistance technologies, which serve to augment your alert driving and help to better detect and avoid hazards. No matter which trim level you select, you'll get:

  • Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking
