You see, unlike some other full-size pickup trucks with so-called "mild hybrid" systems tacked on to their conventional engine options, the new 3.5-liter PowerBoost™ Full Hybrid V6 unit available on the new Ford F-150 was designed with hybrid capabilities in mind from the get-go. That allows it to achieve up to an EPA-estimated 24 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. Plus, it's just as brawny as the other new pickup trucks available in the Ford F-150 repertoire these days, achieving up to 430 horsepower and 570 pound-feet of torque, which in turn allows it to tow up to 12,700 pounds and haul payloads of up to 2,210 pounds in its bed.

Is the new Ford Maverick a true hybrid-electric pickup truck?

Indeed it is, and that makes the first of its kind for the Ford pickup truck lineup.
